Before chasing ghosts, clean and verify the known weak points.

Gauges bouncing, lights flickering, idle surging, random stalling, if you have several small electrical problems that come and go, don't start chasing individual components. On a Cherokee, the answer is usually dirty grounds or corroded connector pins. Clean and check the known weak points first. You'll save yourself a lot of time and money on parts you don't need.
